Convert HEIC to JPG Locally—No Software Download Needed

Convert HEIC to JPG locally in your browser without installing software or uploading selected photos for processing, with free batch support.

Image Convert

Have you found an iPhone photo with a .heic extension that a computer, website, or print service would not accept? The image may be fine; the destination may simply require JPG.

HEIC is based on the HEIF family standardized in ISO/IEC 23008-12. It is efficient for storing photos, but compatibility still varies across applications and services.

Common ways to convert HEIC

One option is to download conversion software. That can be useful for frequent work, but it also adds installation and maintenance. On a managed work or school computer, installing software may not be allowed.

Another option is an upload-based conversion website. It is convenient, but selected photos must leave the device for processing. That boundary may not suit personal, client, or document images.

How conversion works without a software download

When building this tool, we wanted the conversion step to run directly in the browser. Modern browsers can execute compiled processing code through technologies such as WebAssembly.

Image Convert uses a self-hosted browser runtime to decode supported HEIC and HEIF files on the current device and create JPG results there. The page itself may use normal network communication, but selected files, decoded image content, generated JPG files, and ZIP files are not uploaded for processing.

A free local HEIC to JPG converter

The HEIC to JPG converter supports one or more HEIC or HEIF still images and produces separate JPG results. Successful files can also be saved together as a ZIP.

Image Convert browser-local image tools

  • No separate software installation
  • No sign-in
  • Browser-local processing for selected and generated tool files
  • Individual JPG downloads and an optional ZIP for successful batch results
  • Clear per-file success and failure states

JPG is lossy, transparency and animation are not preserved, metadata may be removed, and very large batches depend on available device memory.

Convert HEIC to JPG in three steps

  1. Open the HEIC to JPG tool
  2. Select one or more HEIC or HEIF photos
  3. Save each successful JPG or download the successful results as a ZIP

If you need to convert HEIC to JPG locally without installing an application, start with one representative photo and confirm the result in the destination where you plan to use it.
